“I gotta go with my instinct/ never do
what men think/ Just let it pour from
within me cause when we look to other
peoples words to choose our persona/
slowly but surely we lose our honor.”
Jun Six
These words are a few of the words
that Jose “Jun Six” Blanco lives by.
Born in Cristobal Canal Zone, Panama
on June 6, 1977, Jun Six lived in
Brooklyn, NY until about 5-years old
and moved to Killeen, TX in the early
80’s. Jun Six had been singing since
birth, but later he was exposed to his
first hip-hop album, Raising Hell by
Run DMC. That album would change
his life. At 10-years old, he wrote his
first rap and since then has kept his
love for hip-hop music.

Before his name was Jun Six, “Sir
Lance “A” Rock MC” took the stage for
the first time in front of an audience at
11-years old. In a rap contest, he won
over the huge crowd and created a
buzz within Killeen, TX. A pivotal
moment, this show confirmed his
desire to do this professionally. He
later linked up with a dance group
called the Fancy Prancy Dancers
because they needed an emcee and
performed at several shows and won a
few competitions in the process.

Finally ending up in California, after
attempting to reestablish himself
among the hip-hop heads in Ft. Irwin,
Barstow and now Northridge, Jun Six
was created in 1999. This was the
same year that JunSix would win two
consecutive freestyle battles and
quickly make a name for himself
among the emcees in the 818. In the
meantime, Jun Six also hit a few Poetry
Shows where he developed into a
spoken word artist as well. He found
that the scope of his creativity just
broadened through this art form.  Later
Jun Six would connect with the people
like DJ Spins at More Bounce
Entertainment and ShuxWun at Music
and Strength and continue to build up
his network. Through his
performances, fans would get to know
him in different ways: as a battle
emcee, as a poet and as a vocalist.

Jun Six’s style has gotten him
compared to the likes of Q-tip, Talib
Kweli, Common and Ghostface. Jun Six
considers his influences to be Lauryn
Hill, Wyclef Jean, Rakim, Jay-Z, Biggie,
Talib Kweli, Tupac, Das EFX, Mary J.
Blige, Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder, Wu-
Tang Clan and Marvin Gaye.  He is
very much an “against the grain” kind
of artist. His flow is affected by his
words, which he takes very seriously.
Jun Six is very much into lyrical content
that teaches as well as entertains. He
also loves to incorporate soul and jazz
into his music. You might even catch
Jun Six doing a little singing here and
there! The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
encouraged JunSix to incorporate
singing into his arsenal because he
feels that whatever he is capable of
doing on a record, why not just do it?

As a Christian, Jun Six also feels he
has a bigger mission than just making
classic records. He wants to teach and
“grow the flowers” as he puts it. He
says that the toughest and most
important battle going on is spiritual
warfare and he’s had his share of
scars. And if all of this dosn’t help you
understand Jun Six, let the music
speak for itself. Enjoy!
Jun Six has put together an album that
Rebels   Peak is proud to rep..
It may have taken some time but it is
here....
We must get this music to the world !!!
